Although Fabrizio Gonzalez might not be a household name to the casual poker fan, he is far from anonymous in the online poker world. By most any measure, he is Uruguay’s most successful online poker player and if he had made the final three tables of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, he will become the highest live tournament earner in the history of his home country. However, he was ousted in 45th place for $191,000.

Gonzalez began playing poker with a soccer teammate as they traveled from city to city by bus and was eventually turned onto PokerStars. He started like many poker players did, trying play money games at first and then advancing to micro-stakes games. After he won about $500, he increased his play, making his first “big” score when he won a heads-up tournament for $200.

From there, he played as much as he could, mostly in an internet café at first, as he didn’t have computer. The rest, as they say, is history.

Known as SixthSenSe19online, Gonzalez has amassed just shy of $3 million in recorded online tournament winnings, almost $2.6 million of which have come on PokerStars. When the 2012 WSOP Main Event rolled around, he was 719th in the PocketFives Poker Rankingsand second of all PocketFives registered players from the Uruguay poker community.

He has soared as high as 27th worldwide in the PocketFives rankings, reaching his peak in March 2011. Gonzalez’s largest online cash was $120,000, achieved when he won a $530 No Limit Hold’em Heads-Up event during the 2010 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker.

In the live poker world, Gonzalez had nine WSOP cashes to his credit prior to the 2012 Main Event. He also had one live tournament win, a $44,831 score in a €2,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the 2011 European Poker Tour Berlin stop. All told, Gonzalez has almost $300,000 in lifetime winnings in live tournaments.
