GGPoker provides their players an in-game staking platform.

GGPoker’s mammoth GGSeries 3 kicks off on September 8 and it promises online grinders all the action they can handle.

With $50 million in total prize pools guaranteed and a staggering 482 events, the GGSeries 3 is five times bigger than any of the online site’s previous series. Even for the most dedicated of grinders, firing in a large percentage of 482 events in a three-week span is the ultimate challenge of even the healthiest of bankrolls.

In fact, the GGSeries 3 has an abundance of big buy-in online tournaments including over 65 events with a $10K price tag or higher. But even if you don’t have the biggest of bankrolls it doesn’t mean there isn’t a way to get in on some of GGPoker’s biggest tournaments of the year.

In-Game Staking

One of GGPoker’s most unique software features is the ability to buy and sell pieces of your tournament action – right inside the poker client.

“GGNetwork is constantly trying to push the envelope of online poker, especially when it comes to keeping things fun/engaging and streamlining the player experience. We feel in-client staking ticks both boxes,” said Jean Christophe-Antoine, Head of GGNetwork. “Having a piece certainly makes for great sweats, especially in the current era of live-streamers, where you can track how your investment is doing in real-time. From a utility perspective, there’s no need to leave the client, and action can be bought or sold with a few simple clicks.”

Of course, staking is a big part of tournament poker. Players who don’t necessarily want to assume all the risk of any single tournament, or even a series of events, will sell pieces of their action to those who want to come along for the ride. With GGPoker, players don’t have to post their action on third-party websites or community message boards as the entire transaction can take place right inside the tournament lobby.

“From a utility perspective, there’s no need to leave the client, and action can be bought or sold with a few simple clicks. Basically, we saw a gaping hole in the industry, for something which is as common in poker as bad beat stories, and we thought to ourselves why not fill the void?” said Christophe-Antoine.

Players looking to sell action for a tournament will have a ‘Staking Profile’ page which provides potential backers pertinent information, including previous tournament results and details of action that is currently sold.

One of the small differences with in-client staking is that the player must first register the tournament they want to play before selling pieces to that tournament. However, once registered, the player can then put up pieces for sale at whatever markup they wish. The action will remain open throughout the registration period or until it’s sold out.

Backing The Action

For potential backers, buying a piece may be a way to support your favorite online player or streamer who is taking a shot in the series.

GGPoker provides potential backers a word of warning: like most things in the game of poker, backing comes with risks so putting your money to work could result in that money being lost. With that understood, if there’s a player who is posting action that you want a piece of it’s easy to get involved.

Here are a few things to take note of if you get involved in backing on GGPoker. All pieces are purchased in a minimum of 1% increments, there is no extra fees to purchase pieces, and as soon as a purchase is made, it’s booked and non-refundable. So while the player can cancel their stake before the tournament, the backer is locked in at the time of purchase. The backer will get their money back in the event that the seller cancels, the tournament is unexpectedly canceled or the seller decides to unregister from the event. Once the tournament is underway, the backer can follow along by viewing the table of their player and sweating the action as it happens.

“The transactions are 100% instantaneous and secure. Any winnings earned from staking is automatically credited to the buyer’s account,” said Christophe-Antoine.

Staking may be an option for people to get involved with GGSeries 3, but take note: the new staking platform on GGPoker is up and running for all of their tournaments (except for Rebuy & Add-on tournaments).

GGPoker’s $50 million guaranteed GGSeries 3 kicks runs from September 8-29.
