“Disappointed there isn’t an article about my win on @pocketfivesyet. I’ll let it slide if it’s up by time I wake up with a killer hangover.” That was the Tweet from longtime PocketFives member and former #1 ranked player Griffin Flush_EntityBenger (pictured), who took down the EPT Berlin High Roller Event on Saturday and banked €429,000. Ask and ye shall receive!

Benger was a one-man wrecking crew down the stretch in the High Roller. He cracked Aaron Lim‘s aces when play was four-handed after turning two pair with Q-10 suited. By the way, it was Benger’s birthday, so, as PokerNews put it, “Benger’s birthday run-good is continuing.”

The run-good indeed continued. Three minutes after cracking aces, Benger trimmed the field from four players to three. This time, Max decayLykov, who can be found at #8 worldwide in the PocketFives Poker Rankings, was all-in before the flop with A-5 and well behind Benger’s A-9 of diamonds. Benger flopped the nut flush and no drama was in store, as Lykov, a PokerStars sponsored pro, hit the deck in fourth place for €102,900.

Benger had nearly three-quarters of the chips in play when three-handed action in Berlin began. Shortly thereafter, he dismissed Philippe Ktorza in third place. In that hand, Ktorza 3bet all-in pre-flop with K-J of diamonds and ran smack into Benger’s A-J of spades. Benger flopped top pair and ducked a gutshot straight draw on the river to set up heads-up play against Lim. He began two-way action with an 8:1 advantage.

On the final hand, Benger’s Q-J outlasted K-2 for the title. He told PokerNews after the fact, “It wasn’t especially difficult because I had such a huge chip edge and I had so much confidence because I didn’t really lose a lot of steam at all on [the final day]. I just felt like a boss. I just felt like I was the best in the world. It’s just how poker goes. When things are going your way, you feel like everything’s working. I just felt really confident.”

As we mentioned, Saturday was Benger’s birthday. Appropriately, he told PokerNews, “It’s unbelievable. I can’t even imagine it. This is the best birthday present I could ever think of. It’s probably the best birthday I may ever have. I’m excited to celebrate it with all of my friends.”

Benger is a former #1 player in the Rankings and currently sits at #38 worldwide. He has $4.3 million in tracked online MTT winnings and is the top ranked player in Toronto, Canada. He has been a member of PocketFives since 2010. According to the Hendon Mob, the EPT High Roller Event was Benger’s first six-figure live score.
