With the official split of the iPoker Network taking place on Tuesday, rooms that failed to make the cut into the higher tier will reportedly band together, according to eGaming Review. The news site narrated on Tuesday, “A number of iPoker licensees that failed to meet the criteria to enter its top tier following the network’s split today are close to forming an unofficial forum in order to discuss shared concerns that they could lose out as a result of the division.”

On Tuesday, Paddy Power Poker‘s official rep posted on Two Plus Two that his site had made it into iPoker’s top tier. Also chiming in was a rep from Poker770, which likewise made the grade and is now part of iPoker’s top tier: “As outlined before, Poker770 has also made it into the top tier. There were no software changes besides the fact that the new restricted tables are not shown anymore on the second network.”

Rounding out the featured group of iPoker Network sites are William Hill, bet365, and Titan Poker, the latter of which recently received all of CelebPoker’s former players. Meanwhile, iPoker Network rooms like Mansion Poker and Betfred now make up the secondary tier and, according to EGR, are banding together in order to cope with the split. Everest Poker is reportedly set to join iPoker in the near future.

Banding together could breathe life into the second tier rooms. EGR noted that one official associated with a second tier iPoker room opined that “if a number of operators worked together, then the network would be more likely to consider hearing and acting on their concerns: ‘If we work together, we could shape the minor room into an area or a concept that appeals to a section of the poker market.'”

Other second-tier sites have reportedly looked at joining other major online poker networks. EGR added that U.K. liquidity could be a major concern, as Dafabet, which primarily serves Asian players, will be one of the largest rooms on the smaller iPoker Network. Therefore, liquidity during peak U.K. traffic times could suffer, while Asian liquidity could thrive.

In order to be considered a top-flight iPoker brand, a site had to have 6,000 monthly active players and bring in another 850 new players each month. EGR added that the five major iPoker sites comprise as much as 70% of the network’s player base.

As it stood entering the network split, the iPoker Network was the second largest online poker network worldwide in terms of real money ring game traffic, according to PokerScout. The family of sites fetched a seven-day running average of 2,900 real money ring game players with a 24-hour peak of nearly 5,500. Despite being the second largest network worldwide, however, iPoker is still just one-seventh as large as PokerStars in terms of the number of cash game players.
