The fourth PokerStars SuperStar Showdownplayed out on Sunday and ended with Viktor “Isildur1” Blom (pictured) coming away with a $111,000 victory over Eugene Katchalov, who plays under the screen name MyRabbiFoo on the world’s largest online poker site. Blom improved his record to 3-1 in SuperStar Showdowns and now has a three-match winning streak. Let’s check out some of the highlights from Sunday’s encounter and reveal when the next cycle will take place.

Four $50/$100 heads-up No Limit Hold’em tables on PokerStars served as the stage for the latest SuperStar Showdown and Blom got off to an early lead. The Swedish poker pro now living in London booked an $11,000 edge after the first 403 hands and saw the cards fall his way as the afternoon rolled on.

Katchalov ultimately pulled back to even and dragged a $30,000 pot after Blom 5bet all-in before the flop with 10-7 of hearts. Katchalov held jacks, which held on to pull in a significant chunk of money. Then, Blom struck back after calling Katchalov’s 5bet shove with pocket aces. Katchalov showed pocket eights and quickly found himself as a 4:1 underdog.

At the halfway mark of the 2,500-hand battle, Blom was out in front by $10,000. The new PokerStars pro quickly expanded that lead to over $40,000 and raked in a $62,000 pot in a set-over-set situation that ended with the money going in on the river. Blom had turned a set of kings and Katchalov hit a weaker set of nines on the river to go broke.

Katchalov (pictured) found a flush to take out Blom’s straight and keep the match close, as Blom led by just $11,000 after the setback. However, in a defining hand of the tournament, Blom called Katchalov’s 5bet shove with 10-8 on a flop of 8-4-3 rainbow. Katchalov showed pocket jacks for an overpair to the board, but an eight on the river sealed the win with trips for Blom, who added another $31,000 to his bankroll.

In one of the final hands, Katchalov ran jacks into Blom’s aces and the latter ultimately booked $111,000 in profit. In the four SuperStar Showdown matches held so far, Blom has recorded $165,000 in earnings and posted a record of 3-1. His only loss came against Isaac Haxton in the inaugural SuperStar Showdown.

Katchalov told his opponent following Sunday’s match, “GG man… U obv played really well. I ran bad couple times… But u still played really well. Dunno how match would have turned out in other case of course.” The “other case” referred to what would have happened if Blom had not spiked a crucial eight on the river to draw out on Katchalov’s jacks.

A thread mentioning Sunday’s SuperStar Showdown popped up in Poker Discussion, with the original poster asserting, “I honestly think he’s another Tom Dwan. Kid just buys in for millions of dollars and is considered a pro. I mean this same concept is like Johnny Depp buying in on Stars for $100 million and proclaiming himself a ‘pro.'”

Also chiming in during the match was PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu (pictured), who posted in a chat box, “So this Isildur1 kid might be pretty good after all.” A Negreanu versus Blom SuperStar Showdown may be in store in the near future, but has not yet been announced.

When can you next see Blom in action next? PokerStars Steveposted on TwoPlusTwo, “Isildur1’s next showdown match will be played in two weeks on February 27th at 15:00 ET against an online qualifier. He’ll play the winner of T# 341370296, currently being played.” Twelve days left!
