Jason Mann from San Antonio, Texas went into Day 6 of the 2013 WSOP Main Event with 6,580,000 in chips with 68 players left out of the 6,352-player field. Mann is just shy of $47,000 of career cashes, making this tournament the highlight of his career. His only other WSOP cash came in a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em Event in 2010 with a 34th place finish for $11,232. His best finish came in the $1,000 2008 Caesars Palace Classic with a second place finish for $27,158.

Mann exited the 2013 WSOP Main Event in 25th place and earned $285,000.

On Day 5, Mann was involved in a few big pots. With the blinds 12,000/24,000, Mann raised to 50,000 in middle position with pocket fives. From the cutoff, Thomas Beckstead moved all-in for 438,000 in chips with A-K offsuit, which Mann called. Beckstead was drawing relatively dead when the flop came 5-6-9, ending his run in the tournament and bringing Mann to about 3.9 million in chips.

With the blinds at 20,000/40,000 Mann got involved with a pot with 2012 Octo-Niner Steve Gee. On a board of 9h-9d-3s-6s, Mann with Qs-9s value bet 130,000, which Gee raised to 315,000 with Ks-Js. After Gee missed the river when it came a 4h, he fired out a bluff bet of 700,000. Mann went into the tank even though he had a strong hand with trip nines and eventually called and apologized for a possible “nitroll.”

To end Day 5, Mann took out Robert Sichelstiel on a relatively small pot by going all-in from the small blind with Q-J, which Sichelstiel called with K-2. Sichelstiel was drawing dead on the turn with a board of J-8-2-J. This hand brought Mann up to 6.5 million chips and put him in good position going into Day 6.
