PocketFives U.S. Live Tournament Preview: November 2012

Welcome to the PocketFives November Live Tournament Preview presented by TourneyTracks.com. November is another busy tournament month. Let’s see what’s going on around the United States.
East
The Foxwoods World Poker Finals wraps up in early November with a $3,500 Main Event starting on the 2nd. Meanwhile, the Seneca Fall Poker Classic hosts its $1,100 Main Event on the 3rd at the Seneca Niagara Falls. Dover Downs is also hosting the Pro Poker Championship, a 15-event series with buy-ins ranging from $60 to $1100 from October 26th to November 19th.
The Borgata in Atlantic City (pictured) is hosting the Borgata Fall Poker Open from November 7th to 21st. This is a great East Coast tourney with interesting events, good-sized fields, and buy-ins that are small enough to not break the bank, but big enough to provide a very nice payoff for those lucky enough to cash. At the end of the month, Harrah’s Atlantic City also kicks off a WSOP Circuit Event.
The Deep Stacks Poker Tour is hosting an event at the Mohegan Sun from November 23rd to December 3rd. This series has several events including a $75,000 guarantee hosted by Kevin “Kevmath” Mathers and a $2,500 National Championship Main Event. There are $1 million in guarantees spread across this series.
If you feel like journeying to Quebec, you can play the C$1,100 La Série Royale de Poker at the Casino de Montreal on November 16th. Starting at the same time is WPT Montreal hosted at the Playground Poker Club. There are several smaller events leading up to the $3,300 Main Event, which starts on the 23rd.
If you hurry, you can still make the $1,650 Heartland Poker Tour Main Event at the Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque (pictured), which starts November 2nd. Remember, this event missed its guarantee the last time, so there might be an overlay.
Las Vegas has a full slate of events. The Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza IV runs through November 18th. The schedule includes three events per day and includes two $1,100 events as well as the $2,500 Main Event. The DSE offers good structures and often draws fields of more than 500 entrants.
The Heartland Poker Tour is running an event at the Palms from November 2nd to 11th. There are a few preliminary tournaments, with the $1,650 Main Event starting on the 9th.
Closing out the month is the World Poker Tour’s Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic. Be sure to bring lots of cash because this series has 15 events that range in buy-in from $1,080 to $25,500 and the fields are sure to be packed with world-class players.
The Commerce Casino near Los Angeles is offering the L.A. Poker Open from November 1st to 18th. The series has 20 events ranging in buy-in from $125 to the $1,600 Main Event. Matt Savage, Commerce’s Tournament Director, is known for running good tournaments.
The World Series of Poker Circuit finishes its first stop outside of the United States on November 7th at the River Rock Casino, less than 20 miles from the Vancouver airport. The first event exceeded its posted maximum and the second event was within four of its maximum. More large fields are expected.
Next, you can head down to Pendelton, Oregon, where the Wildhorse Casino will host the Fall Poker Roundup from November 8th to 18th. These events have large fields and players have repeatedly told us that they are a ton of fun. It’s great for small bankrolls too, but get your hotel booked now because they often sell out. Or, if you prefer to continue to chase the WSOP Circuit, you can go to Harvey’s Lake Tahoe from November 8th to 19th. The location is beautiful and it will have the standard fare of Circuit tournaments.
You can continue heading south to the Ante Up Norcal Classic from November 19th to December 3rd hosted at the beautiful Thunder Valley Casino Resort located just outside of Sacramento. This is the inaugural stop for the new Ante Up Poker Tour sponsored by Ante Up Magazine. This stop has a variety of low buy-in events capped off by the $1,100 Main Event starting on November 30th.
Scotty Nguyen’s Dream Catcher World Poker Challenge has three $1,000 buy-in events and several smaller events left before it ends on November 5th. So, make your way down to the Choctaw Resort and Casino in Oklahoma (pictured), baby!
The Mid-States Poker Tour is hosting its third event at the Meswaki Casino in Tama, Iowa through November 4th. There are predictions that it will reach a $400,000 prize pool, surpassing the $300,000 guarantee. The MSPT then will stop at the Grand Casino on the shores of beautiful Mille Lacs Lake. Satellites start on November 10th. Day 1A will be November 16th and reentries will be allowed into Day 1B. We expect a huge field, so book a hotel room early for this one!
Meanwhile, Indiana has competing tournaments running within 35 miles of each other. The Heartland Poker Tour is running the HPT Championship Open from November 9th to 18th at Belterra Casino Resort in Florence. The event features special guest Scotty Nguyen and has a $1,650 Main Event. At the same time, the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg is hosting the Hollywood Poker Open, which has events ranging from $100 to $550.
The Stax Poker Lounge at the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek, Florida wraps up the STAX Poker Lounge Fall Poker Classic, a WPT Regional Event, on November 4th. The Main Event is $500 and has three Day 1s.
The World Poker Tour Jacksonville Main Event is the culmination of the Jacksonville Fall Series at bestbet. The Main Event runs from November 9th to 13th and features a $500,000 guarantee. This should be a big series with multiple events on most days, a nice variety, and a fantastic new poker room.
Finally, the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida is hosting the WPT Regional Poker Open from November 7th to 26th. It features a number of low buy-in preliminary events and a $1,650 Main Event that starts on the 23rd.
