PokerStars 7 has just been released in public Beta to .com, .eu, and .es players. The new client has a design that makes it easier for new and existing players to easily find the games they are looking for while having a flexible lobby layout with a few different views to keep just about any PokerStars player happy.

There are many new features in the software. Recreational players or players just looking to get into a game fast will be able to do so with the new QuickSeat function. However, there are three features geared toward tournament players who have already enjoyed playing at PokerStars for years.

The “Favorites” tab (pictured below) is one of the new features in PokerStars 7 that might turn out to be the most popular. What this does is, with a click of a button, you can set any tournament, cash game, or sit and go as your favorite and it appears in a special tab with only these games.

PocketFiver P0KERDUUDEwas testing PokerStars 7 before it was in Beta mode and commented about this new feature in a Poker Sites thread: “Thank you for adding the favorite tourneys section in pokerstars 7!! Also, thank you for fixing the deep-stack MTT structure! You guys rock!”

P0KERDUUDE was not alone in requesting this feature. PokerStars’ Head of Communications, Lee Jones, told us, “The favorites is something I know a lot of the players have been asking for and essentially it enables you to add bookmarks if you will to games and tournaments you really enjoy.”

A feature that might be more cutting-edge than “Favorites” is the Chip Graph function. This tracks every player’s chip stack throughout a tournament and, just by clicking on a player, you can see a graph showing how his stack ebbed and flowed. The graph is overlayed on two other graphs for the average stack throughout the game as well as the chip leader’s stack.

When we asked Jones if there will be any other new features added to PokerStars 7 before it moves out of public Beta, he commented, “I don’t think there will be any other features coming in during Beta. It is just a question of us polishing up the features we have now. That is really the definition of what a good Beta is.”

For those of you who hate change or just like the look and feel of PokerStars now, you can gradually get yourself acclimated to the new version. If you want to wait as long as possible to change, you don’t even need to log into PokerStars 7, as it is not the default client. However, when PokerStars 7 comes out of public Beta mode, it will most likely be the default client.

While it is not known yet how long both clients will be available for PokerStars players, at least for a limited time PokerStars will allow players totoggle back to the older PokerStars client.
