Roland Israelashvili may have a name you have to look at twice to pronounce, but as long as it’s spelled correctly on the checks, he keeps winning at the World Series of Poker and likely won’t mind when people get a bit tongue-twisted.

Israelashvili, now residing in New York, had a fantastic 2012 WSOP, cashing five times prior to his Main Event run. The highlight for him before the Main Event was a fifth place finish in the $50,000 Poker Player’s Championship, an effort that won him $317,882. He also managed a tenth place finish in a $1,500 Limit Hold’em event, bubbling the final table, and was in contention for the 2012 WSOP Player of the Year title.

2012 wasn’t Israelashvili’s first Main Event rodeo, either. He made a deep run in 2005, the year that PokerStarspro Joe Hachem won, making it all the way to 37th place before bowing out. The 2012 Main Event marked his 26th WSOP cash to go along with 26 cashes in WSOP Circuit events.

His biggest win came in 2010, when he took down the title in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the WSOP Circuit stop at Caesars Atlantic City, a win which earned him $264,715 and a gold ring. He has $1,124,699 in lifetime WSOP earnings, which makes up the vast majority of his lifetime total in all tournaments.

Don’t be surprised if Roland Israelashvili buys himself a new set of wheels with his payout from his deep run in the 2012 WSOP Main Event. He used to race cars, earning the nickname “Speedy,” and is still a race fan to this day. A shiny new bracelet would suit him just fine, as well, as he opened a jewelry store in New York, although don’t expect that wrist wear to be for sale. He finished in 25th place in the 2012 WSOP Main Event for $294,000.
