Thomas Kearney came into the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event already quite familiar with the WSOP, though he only has three lifetimes cashes in the Series. Kearney is an online grinder who plays on the one viable online poker site in Nevada, WSOP.com. Best known by his screen name, Butters, has done very well for himself online, especially considering the iffy liquidity in Nevada. He exited the 2015 WSOP Main Event in 15th place for $411,000.

Tournament Poker Edgeis the only poker training site dedicated exclusively to MTTs and features over 1,000 training videos, blogs, articles, podcasts and a dedicated strategy forum for members. Check Tournament Poker Edge out on Twitter.

On the online tournament side entering the 2015 Main Event, Kearney was the top-ranked player in Nevada with over $150,000 in tournament winnings to his name (by the way, Butters is taken from the name of a character on the television show “South Park”).

In an interview with PocketFives in 2014, Butters said of his cash game play, “I play mostly six-max and heads-up PLO. I also play heads-up LHE and NLHE. I am bored by NLHE for the most part and find PLO to be less reggy.”

He has also recently taken up live streaming of his cash game sessions on Twitch. There, he writes, “I normally play 1-2 to 5-10 PLO and NLHE online. I am new to streaming and just giving this a shot. I will be putting up my sessions of me playing everything from $0.5-$1 to $5-$10 PLO and NLHE. I will also have lots of Limit Hold’em cash as well as heads-up sit and gos and MTTs.”

We don’t know when that was written, but for someone new to streaming, he seems to be doing alright for himself. He has 2,866 followers and his page has received nearly 227,000 views.
