A total of 178 players descended on the felts for the $5,200 buy-in PokerStarsWorld Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event finale on Monday. Among them was PocketFives.com member and reigning World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship winner Yevgeniy atimos Timoshenko (pictured at right), who wound up taking home the WCOOP Main Event title and its corresponding $1.7 million payday. A bevy of members of the online poker community reached the final table of the two-day event in a lucrative showing. Let’s relive the action from the 2009 WCOOP Main Event final table.

Exiting in ninth place from the feature table was Mer peachymerBrit, who sits at #42 worldwide on the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings. Brit shoved with A-7, but ran into Dan djk123Kelly’s A-K. The flop came king-high and Kelly never looked back, sending Brit to the rails in ninth place for $96,000. Shortly thereafter, supa4realhit the skids in eighth after his pocket tens ran into the pocket jacks of Ben chong94 LeFew. The flop came 7-8-9, giving supa4real an open-ended straight draw, but the turn and river came a three and a seven, respectively, sending supa4real to the exits for $182,000.
The next to go was PocketFives.com member sodakboy, who plays on PokerStars under the screen name Mudvaynes. Sodakboy shoved with 10-9 of diamonds and was called by Kelly, who held Q-10. The board ran out 2-K-3-7-A and sodakboy was sent packing $268,000 richer for his wear in the $5,200 buy-in WCOOP Main Event. LeFew then found himself all-in with A-J against Kelly’s 6-7. Kelly flopped the nuts on a board of 3-4-5. A six on the turn left LeFew calling for a chopped pot, but the river was a 10, sending him home. All was not lost for LeFew, however, who banked $375,000 for his two days’ worth of work.

Shortly thereafter, Xastonpushed with A-9 on a flop of 9-10-3 with two clubs. However, Timoshenko made the call and flipped up K-10 of clubs for top pair. A club on the turn improved the tournament’s eventual winner to a flush and Xaston was eliminated in fifth place for $482,000. Timoshenko was also the executioner of Kelly (pictured at left), who was all-in pre-flop holding pocket tens against Timoshenko’s pocket kings. The flop came king-high, keeping the WPT Championship winner in the lead for good in the hand and sending Kelly to the virtual rails in fourth place for $643,000.

On a board of 2-5-K-8 with two hearts, reddeevilcheck-raised all-in holding 9-6 of hearts for straight and flush draws, but ran into Timoshenko’s K-8 for top two pair. The river was the eight of hearts, which filled reddeevil’s flush, but also gave Timoshenko a boat. Reddeevil grabbed $933,000 for third place, setting up a heads-up showdown between Timoshenko and PokerStars member Udon Wannit with a $1.7 million first place prize in the offing for one of the two combatants. Timoshenko held a 4:1 chip lead entering heads-up play.

In the tournament’s final hand, Udon Wannit shoved with 6-5 after a flop of 6-K-8, but picked an inopportune time to do so, as Timoshenko held K-6 for two pair. The board filled out 3-4, sending Udon Wannit out and gifting $1.7 million to Timoshenko for the win. Here were the final standings from the 2009 WCOOP Main Event:
