PokerStars Holding WSOP Main Event Mega Satellite on June 20th

On Sunday, June 20th at 16:30 ET, PokerStarsis holding a Mega Satellite offering up at least 200 prize packages to the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. The massive qualifier comes with a price tag of $370 and will award $12,000 WSOP Main Event prize packages. Satellites are also available if $370 is a bit out of your budget. Players will begin with 3,000 in starting chips and blind levels will run for 15 minutes.
To sign up, open the USA-friendly online poker site’s client and navigate to “Events” and “WSOP.” The Tournament ID is 300000000 and promises to be a lucrative one for many members of the PokerStars community. The PokerStars prize package includes the WSOP Main Event’s $10,000 buy-in, $1,000 to use for travel and other expenses, and eight nights’ accommodation at the luxurious Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, worth $1,000.
The Palms is located right across Flamingo Boulevard from the Rio (pictured) and PokerStars is even offering a free shuttle bus for qualifiers who don’t want to make the hike. That’s not all the winners of PokerStars prize packages will receive. Anyone who qualifies through the world’s largest online poker room and cashes in the Main Event will receive a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure or North American Poker Tour (NAPT) prize package. Qualifiers who don PokerStars gear during poker’s version of the Super Bowl will also be eligible to receive 50,000 VIP Player Points (VPPs), which will be credited in January.
PokerStars is awarding a Main Event Champion Bonus of $1 million, which will be split between cash and tournament credits for online and offline events. Plus, players who win their way in will receive a PokerStars swag bag and an invitation for two to the site’s party in Las Vegas on July 11th. Finally, Supernova and Supernova Elite qualifiers will receive free suite upgrades at the Palms. That’s quite a mouthful!
PokerStars has been a breeding ground of sorts for recent WSOP Main Event champions. In 2003, then-little known Tennessee accountant Chris Moneymaker defeated poker veteran Sammy Farha to take down the Main Event and set the industry ablaze. In 2004, Greg Raymer represented the site, followed by Australian Joe Hachem in 2005. Two years ago, Danish poker star Peter Eastgate became the youngest WSOP Main Event winner ever and collected a $9.1 million prize. In 2009, PocketFives.com member Joe jcada99 Cada trumped Eastgate’s record by one year and took down the Main Event title at age 21.
Cash satellites, FPP satellites, and Steps satellites are also available. Players are ultimately responsible for buying themselves into the WSOP Main Event. Pre-registration is open for all four starting days of the $10,000 buy-in tournament, which run from July 5th to July 8th. Last year, 500 players were unable to register, meaning that players should sign up early else risk being shut out of the annual spectacle. Visit WSOP.com for more details.
According to PokerScout.com, PokerStars offers a seven-day running average of 27,200 real money ring game players, nearly twice the total of its chief rival, Full Tilt. Visit PokerStarstoday and remember that USA players are welcome.
